A NOTE FROM MEGAN
I See You

WILDE MUSIC ACADEMY
Let me tell you about a talented, hidden singer named Adam.
Adam sings everywhere. In the shower.
In the car. Standing at the kitchen counter waiting for the coffee to brew.
Music isn't something Adam does, it's something that moves through him, and every time
it does, there's this surge. Joy, and something deeper than joy.
Purpose. Like for three and a half minutes, he's exactly who he's supposed to be.
And then the song ends, and the world comes back.
Because the moment Adam imagines actually stepping onto a stage, under the lights, in
front of real people with real opinions, his whole body tightens. The same voice that feels
so free in the car goes somewhere to hide.
He's thought about posting a video, everyone says he should, but that little upload button
might as well weigh a thousand pounds. He'll record a take.
Then another. Then another.
And then he closes the app. Because somewhere underneath it all, Adam doesn't feel like
he's earned the right to be seen.

He wonders if he's actually good enough. He isn't even sure what would make people stop
and listen, even though he knows, he knows, that music is the truest thing about him.
Here's the part that breaks my heart.
Adam wrote a song once. A real one.
He sat with those lyrics for hours, pining over every word, moving lines around, cutting
the ones that weren't honest enough, until it finally said the thing he'd never been able to
say out loud. He put himself, the actual him, the person underneath, into that song.
And then he did the bravest thing a person can do. He shared it.
His friends listened for about five seconds. And then someone brought up the football
game from the night before, and that was that.
It hurt in a way Adam couldn't explain to anyone. Because they didn't just skip a song.
They skipped him.
And in the quiet afterward, he heard the other voices too, the ones that live rent-free in the
back of his mind. His mom and dad, kind as they were: "Music's lovely, honey.
Just remember it's not a real job. The odds of making anything of it are so low."
Now let me ask you something.
Does Adam sound like anyone you know?
Take a second and really sit with that. Because if you're being honest with yourself, I think
you already know the answer.
I think Adam sounds a lot like you.
I think you've felt that same surge when you sing, and that same tightening when you
imagine being seen. I think you have your own version of the song nobody listened to, and
your own voices in the back of your mind.
And I think some quiet, stubborn part of you has been waiting a very long time for
someone to tell you the truth about why.
So here it is.

There's a light in you. Small, maybe, but stubborn.
Like a single candle burning at the bottom of a dark mineshaft, where by all logic it should
have gone out a long time ago, and it just won't. That light is your calling.
And you know, in the deepest part of you, that if you never give this a real shot, something
essential will go unlived. You can picture it, clear as day: yourself at eighty, looking back,
feeling the full weight of the dream you were too scared to chase.
The talent you knew you had. The life you could have lived, if only someone had shown
you the way.
That, right there, is the most dangerous thing in the world. Not failing.
Regret.
So let me tell you why I wrote this book.
I wrote it because I have watched too many gifted, aching, ready people, people exactly
like Adam, and maybe exactly like you, spend years believing the problem was them. That
they weren't talented enough, weren't young enough, didn't know the right people, didn't
live in the right city.
And it was never, not once, actually true.
The problem was never you. Nobody ever
handed you the map.
By the time you finish these pages, I want you to feel something shift. I want that stubborn
little candle to flare up into something you can't ignore.
Because you didn't pick up this book by accident. Some part of you is done waiting.
Some part of you is ready to stop being the talented person nobody discovered, and finally
become the artist you've always known you were.
Let's begin.
